Modern Art for sale by RosWebbART | Softly Falls The Snow
Softly Falls the Snow
Softly Falls the snow is acrylic on board. It's my interpretation of a winter scene in the figurative sense; I wanted to create the feeling of wonder when snow first starts to fall and the magic of wearing something wonderful ; like a wedding dress. I found this short piece of prose that I felt fitted the picture perfectly:
''And your steel heart search stranger,
That you may pause and pray,
For lovers who come not to bed upon their wedding day,
But lie upon the moorland,
Where stand the sacred snow,
Above the breathing river,
And the salt-sea winds go.

Hi RosWebbART, I'm honored, I love that bold careless, free flowing style, I can do it but I am a bit frigid and prefer the comfort of accuracy, the security it holds, exactness and cold. Perhaps one day I too will grow all careless and bold because I do love it so.
By the way, very cool pictures, very hip, hip hooray.
Diolch Yn Fawr, Gareth.
That is beautiful! I'd love to see more of your work.
This is a great hub! I really loved the paintings, they are so stylish and free! You paint very loose and the gestures are great. I love the dresses. You have a thing for dress wear! Magic!
I love the energy in your paintings! Wonderful! I look forward to more great artwork! You are wonderful! Fan - forever!
breath taking...really...
So lovely! I'm especially fond of "Softly Falls The Snow" but several others are outstanding too. I like the aliveness of them, both the figures and the fabrics. - Great capturing of it. I, too, have a background in designing and making fashion clothing, though obviously not to this degree. I loved the fashion illustration part of it, too, but these exceed any I've seen. Very good!!
And thank you for becoming one of my fans, too!
love your artwork :)
Nice work! Your figures are so expressive. Great movement.
Such a nice combination of colours (my favourite).Great job!!!

A Rose is a rose
This is acrylic on a textured paper. The name came from Shakespeare ; I felt it suited the womens face and the dress. I was intending her to be abstract but she was my muse at the time and her face kept appearing in my work; and strangly enough I had a women who contacted me and said the painting looked just like her. She is prehaps one of my most realistic painting ; realistic in it boardest term. Here is the extract from Romeo and Juilet from which the title was taken ;
Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.
Romeo:
I take thee at thy word:
Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized;
Henceforth I never will be Romeo.

Late Lounge.
Late Lounge is acrylic on paper. It was based on an evening setting , I wanted to create some mystery and glamour.
''She drizzles the
melody over us through 2am smoke till the room is sweet enough to hold
her sadness bending the notes sharp inside her chest''.(Sheri Wright.)

This is my favorite. I love that she is facing away, and that it's abstract but there are still sharp lines and distinctions that bring out her shape. Beautiful colors!
Modern Art for sale by RosWebbART | Angel
Angel
Angel . Acrylic on paper. Angel was origionally going to be 'an angel' but after I had drawn and painted her back and dress I couldn't bring myself to put wings on her; I felt it would have spoilt the composition ; so she is a wingless angel; and I'm sure there are plenty of them around.
"To be an angel, one need not have wings.
In giving love there is an equal grace.
Nor need one seek the aura in the face,
As love unveils the beauty of all things."
By Francois Couperin.

Modern Art for sale by RosWebbART | Sapphire May Queen
Sapphire queen of the mid-May
I wanted to create the intense red and pinks of summer in this painting in the dress and give the feeling of a woman walking down a catwalk or just walking because she is wearing a sapphire silk dress; and the thrill of wearing such a dress.Not sure if I trasferred the feeling? but I do believe I created the sapphire!!
Sapphire queen of the mid-May;
And every leaf, and every flower
Pearled with the self-same shower.

Modern Art for sale by RosWebbART | Let the Winged Fancy Roam
Ever let the Fancy roam, Pleasure never is at home:
This is acrylic on paper ; I wanted to create the transparent effect of the dress; in my distant past when I was a Fashion designer I had to create images that represented the colours and textures of the fabrics;I also tried to move away from my trademark reds and use some fresh light blues. I wanted her to have a light and airy feel of a summer morning.
At a touch sweet Pleasure melteth
Like to bubbles when rain pelteth.
Let, then, winged Fancy find
Thee a mistress to thy mind:
Dulcet-eyed as Ceres' daughter,
Ere the God of Torment taught her
How to frown and how to chide;
John Keats.
